With heavy rain expected in Montpellier on Saturday, France are set for a tough evening if they are to improve their poor record against Argentina.

A quick glance at past results reveals that France have won just twice in nine starts against the Pumas since 2002.

Les Bleus have often had themselves to blame. At times they've been guilty of not adapting to Argentina's confrontational style, at others their motivational levels haven't been up to scratch - as was the case in Buenos Aires last June when they were quite simply outmuscled before being run ragged.

The Pumas' approach is seldom pretty but it's usually very effective in the kind of conditions expected on Saturday. The South Americans always seem to find a little bit extra when playing France and with many of the 'visitors' playing close to their adopted homes, this week shouldn't be any different

"Playing against France is how the Argentines measure themselves," according to former Pumas consultant and France skipper Fabien Galthié.

"The French internationals are their club team-mates, often their friends. They want to considered, in the eyes of their colleagues, as good rugby players," added the Montpellier coach after having lunch with Pumas boss Santiago Phelan on Wednesday.

Led by an ultra-experienced front row of Rodrigo Roncero (33), Mario Ledesma (37), Martin Scelzo (34) the Pumas are all about getting in your face and inside your head.

French tempers will be tested.

Coach Marc Lièvremont has warned his players not to fall into the trap of being dragged into a prolonged arm-wrestle and has promised the French will play an "ambitious game" with plenty of volume, despite the adverse weather.

The hosts would have liked nothing more than a dry track to work on after Lièvremont admitted that very little was gained by last week's win over Fiji in dismal conditions, as he continues to play musical chairs with his team.

There are fourteen changes to last week's starting XV (only fly-half Damien Traille is retained) while there are ten changes to the line-up that did duty in Buenos Aires. In the three games mentioned three different players have featured at loosehead, openside flank, number eight, both centre positions and on both wings...

So it's any anyone's guess what France's first-choice team looks like.

From a spectators perspective, the changes have resulted in a new centre combination that should be fun to watch. Between them, Yannick Jauzion and Aurélien Rougerie have 125 caps but will be midfield partners for the first time as the latter continues his conversion from wing to number thirteen.

They both stand 6ft 4 (1.93m) tall and weigh an average of 106kg, so they should be a real handful and vital to the French plan of moving the Pumas pack around.

How well the XV de France manage to pull off an expansive style in wet conditions remains to be seen however. French fans will be hoping it won't be another case of getting it wrong against the side that has become their nemesis.

Ones to watch:

For France: Sébastien Chabal has made no secret of his desire to play at number eight, meaning he needs to unseat the incumbent Imanol Harinordoquy. Marc Lièvremont is a tough guy to please: Harinordoquy was giving the Fijians all kinds of headaches in the line-outs last week but ended up being criticised by the coach for not sticking to the game-plan. In conditions where France will look to their back-row to carry the ball a lot, the Caveman has a chance to shine. The beast has been let out of his second-row cage - watch him run!

For Argentina: Like the vast majority of the Pumas squad, full-back Martin Rodriguez plays his rugby in the Top 14. The 25-year-old has been a revelation for Stade Français where his accurate kicking and creativity in attack has made him a regular feature in the first-choice XV. He's equally comfortable at number twelve and runs as well as he kicks. If the French don't find touch, look to Rodriguez to punish them.

Head-to-head: In the words of France hooker William Servat, the "Pumas scrum is the global benchmark". Hence the battle of the front rows is set to be decisive. Servat has been outstanding all year while Thomas Domingo faces off with his Clermont partners Ledesma and Scelzo. The masters face their students. It'll be as brutal as it is fascinating.

Previous results:

2010:Argentina won 41-13 in Buenos Aires
2008: France won 12-6 in Marseille
2007: Argentina won 34-10 in Paris
2007: Argentina won 17-10 in Paris
2006: France won 27-26 in Paris
2004: Argentina won 24-14 in Marseilles
2003: Argentina won 33-32 in Buenos Aires
2003: Argentina won 10-6 in Buenos Aires
2002: Argentina won 28-27 in Buenos Aires

Prediction: This is a very tough one to call, especially considering Les Bleus' record against their visitors and the leveling factor of the weather. The Pumas bashed their way past Italy last week, but failed to really impress, so we'll go with the hosts. France by a whisker!

Rampant All Blacks, misfiring hosts and disillusioned Irish fans: A recipe for a forgone conclusion in Dublin on Saturday?

If the vast majority of comments from Irish supporters in our inbox can be taken as an accurate gauge of how this weekend's showdown at Lansdowne Road will pan out, then Ireland don't have a chance.

It's tough to blame the home faithful for losing their faith given Ireland's record this year. Declan Kidney's team have lost seven out of eleven matches and looked unconvincing in last Saturday's 20-10 win against Samoa.

Perhaps the criticism is a little harsh? Sure, Ireland were dominated up front by South Africa but they only lost by two points in the end. Samoa gave them a real scare but that was arguably the best team in blue ever to visit Europe.

Test rugby is a game of small margins - if you're just a little off song, the punishment is usually severe. If we take the comments coming out of the Irish camp at face value, then the hosts are confident that they can fix a few areas and give the All Blacks a run for their money.

But if ever there was a unit that punishes their opposition for the small errors mentioned above, it's the current crop of men in black.

What stood out in the All Blacks' win against Scotland was the ruthless manner in which the tourists went about their business. Even when they were over 30 points ahead, when most teams would have switched to cruise control, they continued to hammer away.

Ireland need to shape up - and fast - or they risk suffering the same fate as their Northern Hemisphere counterparts at Murrayfield. For all their insistence that confidence hasn't taken a slump and that the atmosphere in the camp is positive, they surely cannot be immune to the criticism from outside. Just how the hosts react if New Zealand take an early lead will be interesting to see.

Albert Einstein's definition of insanity is "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." What seems to irritate Irish fans the most is Kidney's insistence in picking a virtually unchanged team (compared to the side that faced South Africa), despite their lack or results.

Former New Zealand scrum-half Justin Marshall told an Irish newspaper this week that he reckons there isn't a single player in the Irish team that would be selected for the All Blacks on current form. Marshall obviously could never be the most objective pundit, but he probably isn't far off the mark.

But would wholesale changes to the hosts' team turn the bus around? We're not sure. Good players don't turn bad over night. That said, there's one or two names in that pack that might be past their sell-by date.

In stark contrast, all the news this week regarding the All Blacks has been about records. Mils Muliaina and Richie McCaw will become New Zealand's most capped players on Saturday. If all goes to plan Graham Henry will be rewarded with his 100th Test win as a coach and Dan Carter could become the most prolific points scorer from any nation in Test history.

The Kiwis must be ruing last month's defeat in Hong Kong more than ever as the world record for most consecutive wins would surely have been within their grasps by now.

Of course, Henry has troubles of his own. He has to leave one of Conrad Smith, Ma'a Nonu and Sonny Bill Williams out of his team every week. Poor guy.

Ones to watch:

For Ireland: Just when we all thought it was time to put Ronan O'Gara out to pasture, he almost pulls the game out of the fire against South Africa and then scores the winning try against Samoa. Jonathan Sexton has to live up to the faith put in him this week. Amid growing calls from some parts of the Irish public to see Sean O'Brien given a spot in the team, David Wallace is also under pressure to come up with a big game.

For New Zealand: The hottest topic of debate in New Zealand right now is 'who should start in midfield?'. Sonny Bill Williams' performance last week set the bar pretty high, so expect a reaction from Conrad Smith and Ma'a Nonu. The opposition his week is high class so a strong game from the Hurricanes' duo will go a long way to helping them retain their status as the incumbents .

Head-to-head: Ireland have disappointed at scrum time this month and the All Blacks won't be too proud of their set-piece performance at Twickenham either. It all starts up front - if the Irish backs don't get the ball on the front foot, their cause is lost.

Previous results:

2010: Ireland lost 66-28 in New Plymouth
2008: Ireland lost 3-22 at Croke Park
2008: Ireland lost 21-11 in Wellington
2006: Ireland lost 27-17 in Auckland
2006: Ireland lost 24-23 in Hamilton
2005: Ireland lost 7-45 at Lansdowne Road
2002: Ireland lost 40-8 in Auckland
2002: Ireland lost 15-6 in Dunedin
2001: Ireland lost 29-40 at Lansdowne Road

Prediction: Ireland have never beaten the All Blacks and nothing suggests this is the weekend for an upset. New Zealand by fifteen points.

It doesn't get any easier for Scotland, but it can't get much worse than last week's outing with the All Blacks when they host South Africa at Murrayfield on Saturday.

Scotland entered their opening November Test off a four-match unbeaten run and chasing a first win in 105 years over New Zealand, but fell well short in a 49-3 defeat.

The Scots will still be reeling from their humiliating loss six days ago, but have a chance to restore their battered reputation against a Springbok side that have had to deal with disruptions on and off the field.

Although Scotland are meeting the reigning world champions this weekend, the match does not have the same historical resonance as last week's Test as Scotland have beaten the Springboks four times in 20 attempts.

The last triumph came in November 2002 at Murrayfield (21-6) and while Scotland have lost 11 of 12 meetings with South Africa since the end of Apartheid, there is hope of success this weekend.

Injuries and suspensions in the Bok camp have boosted Scotland's chances slightly, after three South African players were sent home - Bryan Habana with a broken hand as well as Chilliboy Rallepele and Bjorn Basson because of a doping scare.

With two more hurdles to cross before South Africa's Grand Slam mission is accomplished, the mounting injuries and doping scandal are a worries the Boks can surely do without and just how much it has affected them will be seen in their performance on Saturday.

The Boks struggled even without the sideshows against Wales, and can count their lucky stars they remain unbeaten thus far on tour. Without taking anything away from a thrilling come-from-behind win, South Africa were poor compared to their opening victory against Ireland.

They also have a niggling reminder in the back of their heads of their last visit to Edinburgh, in 2008, when they had also beaten Wales the week before and then proceeded to come within a few inches of losing to the Scots - in the last movement of the game, lock Nathan Hines was brought to a halt agonisingly close to the try-line, and the Boks held on for a dogged 14-10 win.

One thing's for sure, the tourists have certainly had plenty of tackling practice over the last two weeks but the Edinburgh clash presents a chance for the Boks to follow New Zealand's lead and stretch their legs a wee bit.

South Africa's grunt up front has played a big part overseas, however with the likes of dangerman Gio Aplon and speed merchant Lwazi Mvovo waiting in the wings, perhaps it's time to put their try-scoring machines out wide to good use?

Scotland will be expecting another forward onslaught from their visitors, and a change of tactics by the men in green and gold - weather depending - could just catch the home side cold.

Or according to Bok forwards coach Gary Gold, maybe not. Whilst South African fans would like to see the ball given a bit more air, it seems they are set to stick with what has worked for them.

"We are looking for a big improvement this week, our third match on tour," he said.

"We are of the mindset that we must continue to do what we do well, only better. We have strengths that we must capitalise on."

"Firstly we have to play a game that suits our players, secondly we have to take into account the conditions and thirdly we have to consider the new interpretations of the laws. Combining all three to get the best plan for ourselves is what we are trying to do."

Whatever the Boks have planned for Saturday - conservative or expansive - Scotland have got to match what they throw at them or risk another humiliating loss on the trot.

Ones to watch:

For Scotland: Old head Nathan Hines will start at blindside flank for Scotland this weekend. The selection of Hines in a position which, although familiar to the British and Irish Lion, is not his preferred second row slot, suggests Scotland are ready to front up and take on the formidable Springboks pack in a tight contest - the opposite of the expansive game the All Blacks were able to exploit.

For South Africa: We can't look at anyone past debutant Lwazi Mvovo, who gets his chance to shine in the absence of Bryan Habana. Mvovo had an outstanding Currie Cup season with the Sharks and deserves his chance to show what he can do in the Springbok jersey - blink and you'll miss him!

Head to head: With Andy Robinson opting for a big Scotland pack in hope of combating the robust South Africans, the focus has to be on the forwards. The Bok scrum is in for a challenge, with British & Irish Lions tourists Euan Murray and Ross Ford supplying the necessary power to the Scottish pack. As a unit, South Africa boast the better tight five, but Hines' move to the side of the scrum obviously offers Scotland more line-out options to challenge the likes of Victor Matfield and Bakkies Botha. An accurate showing at the set-piece will decide who wins this one.

Recent results:
2008: South Africa won 14-10, Edinburgh
2007: South Africa won 27-3, Edinburgh
2006: South Africa won 29-15, Port Elizabeth
2006: South Africa won 36-16, Durban
2004: South Africa won 45-10, Edinburgh
2003: South Africa won 28-19, Johannesburg
2003: South Africa win 29-25, Durban
2002: Scotland won 21-6, Edinburgh
1999: South Africa won 46-29, Edinburgh
1998: South Africa won 35-10, Edinburgh

Prediction: The Scots can't get any worse than last week, but it's hard to bet against South Africa in the Scotland capital. Boks to win by ten points.

All the hard work finally paid off for England last Saturday as a strong effort did for Australia. Next on the schedule are the Samoans at HQ.

It really was a display of intent against Oz as a confident running game and raw hunger oozed out of their game. It has also given seen their odds slashed to 10/1 with several bookmakers of lifting the World Cup in New Zealand next year.

So are they now the real deal?

Well it was typical Martin Johnson in pouring cool water on all the hype and positive questions being asked of him during the post-match: "You can get carried away with these things. We played pretty well, there was a good tempo from the start."

Pretty well? Come on Martin, even the press in Australia were impressed by that performance. But that cautiousness is what England will need right now as the Samoans made it very difficult for Ireland to pull away from them in Dublin. The encouraging news for Johnson now is that his side are arguably not in the same bracket as their neighbours from across the Irish Sea, standing them in really good stead of winning the 2011 Six Nations.

Not bad for a side that has won only two of its last seven international fixtures - both victories coming against, you've guessed it, those Wallabies.

History is most certainly with England when they meet Samoa too as they have won all five games they have played against the islanders. It's also worth mentioning that England's biggest win over Samoa was a 40-3 one in 2005, which was the last time Samoa visited.

That brings me to my next point; how little these two have met. Five times in fifteen years, and three of those were in a RWC. Add to that they have are set to play just seven games in 2010 - just one being against a top ten outfit on home soil - and it hardly breeds progress.

It is clear that Fuimaono Titimaea Tafua's group has the capabilities of challenging the top sides if given fixtures in Apia. But that debate is for another day as HQ is the daunting task that awaits Samoa, who will look to their English-based contingent for some help.

Ones to watch:

For England: He has been tried out at number thirteen for club side Bath over recent weeks and that seems to have impressed England boss Martin Johnson enough to give him a run in that position wearing white. Matt Banahan comes in for Mike Tindall this week and while many would of liked to have seen Delon Armitage given a run at outside centre, the physicality of him alongside Shontayne Hape could be a very interesting watch.

For Samoa: Census Johnston was unavailable for Samoa last week due to the unfortunate passing of his sister and his return to bench duty will be a massive boost to the islanders. The former Saracens and now Toulouse man always makes an impact when wearing number seventeen so keep an eye out for him. However we have gone for David Lemi, who will be his usual busy self against an in-form Mark Cueto.

Head-to-head: Two clashes have caught the eye and they are Chris Ashton against Alesana Tuilagi and Shontayne Hape against Seilala Mapusua. Saints winger Ashton was exceptional last weekend while Tuilagi scored against Ireland so both are enjoying life at the moment. Meanwhile, Hape played a solid 80 minutes for England but will be up against one of the best in the business in the form of London Irish's key centre. Enjoy that one.

Recent results:

2007: England won 44-22 in Nantes
2005: England won 40-3 in London
2003: England won 35-22 in Melbourne
1995: England won 27-9 in London
1995: England won 44-22 in Durban

Prediction: The hosts are on a high after last week. England by 30!

Replacements: 16 Carlo Festuccia, 17 Lorenzo Cittadini, 18 Santiago Dellape, 19 Robert Barbieri, 20 Pablo Canavosio, 21 Riccardo Bocchino, 22 Alberto Sgarbi.

Australia: 15 Kurtley Beale, 14 Lachie Turner, 13 Adam Ashley-Cooper, 12 Berrick Barnes, 11 Drew Mitchell, 10 Quade Cooper, 9 Luke Burgess, 8 Ben McCalman, 7 David Pocock, 6 Rocky Elsom (c), 5 Nathan Sharpe, 4 Rob Simmons, 3 Ben Alexander, 2 Stephen Moore, 1 James Slipper.

Replacements: 16 Tatafu Polota-Nau, 17 Benn Robinson, 18 Mark Chisholm, 19 Matt Hodgson, 20 Will Genia, 21 Matt Giteau, 22 Pat McCabe.

One step forward, two strides back. That has been the sorry story for Australia over the past two years ahead of facing Italy in Florence.

It had looked as though the Wallabies had turned the corner following that victory over New Zealand in Hong Kong, and many were expecting them to push on in an unbeaten tour. But unfortunately, that hasn't been the case as the wheels have come off this past week in England and Ireland.

First it was Martin Johnson's outfit who - contrary to all the pre-game hype about the scrum - played an expansive brand that out-Australia'd Australia. Then, three days later, the might of Munster's second-string did for the Wallabies' equivalent. As one Irish commentator put it, they were shocking.

And so the axe has fallen. Out of the mix goes Australia's most experienced back Matt Giteau, with midweek captain Berrick Barnes at 12. Benn Robinson and Mark Chisholm are also culled as James Slipper and Rob Simmons come in. Will Genia's bench spot is largely down to injury.

Warranted changes then? I think not regarding Robinson as the mobile prop was his usual busy self around the field, but then again Slipper does deserve a chance to show what he is capable of. The Giteau debate is one that many are divided on though, and it's probably his form and not Barnes' that sees Head Coach Robbie Deans make the change.

"They've all earned their right to be a part of this side," said the boss.

"Off the back of his efforts off the bench, James has earned his opportunity to start and Rob gets his chance to start having got some more rugby under his belt [during midweek] and he'll benefit from the experience he received off the bench through the Tri-Nations.

"Berrick has really worked hard at his game and deserves his chance to start. He has also made an impact off the bench for us and he gets his chance to start from the beginning, as does Luke [Burgess].

Barnes is not the greatest carrier or line-breaker for that matter so that responsibility falls on Adam Ashley-Cooper, who will become the 35th man to play 50 Tests for Australia. And Deans has nothing but praise for the man who has become so vital to his cause.

"It's outstanding," he said about the Brumby achieving the landmark.

"To get one Test is a great but to get to 50 is an outstanding achievement in anyone's book.

"The great thing about Adam is that he's played each of those as if they were his first."

Meanwhile, opposing Head Coach Nick Mallett showed little faith in his starting line-up that fell narrowly to Argentina as he made a total of six changes, the biggest being 20-year-old Edoardo Gori's inclusion at scrum-half.

It will be a very testing debut, particularly as he's not even played a senior match since April. He does not have experience to call upon outside either as Craig Gower is out injured.

Mallett's selection should make for a mouth-watering chance for Quade Cooper - criticised for being 'tackle shy' at HQ - to regain some much-needed confidence ahead of Australia facing France. So will it be back on the front-foot for the Wallabies? It has to be, surely.

Ones to watch:

For Italy: Mentioned already but what a testing comeback this will be for scrum-half Edoardo Gori. At least he has one of the best number eights in the business as a calming presence.

For Australia: It is undeniable that Quade Cooper came back from Europe last year a different player, and it was in fact in Italy where he shone. Upon returning home, he enjoyed an exceptional season in the Super 14 for the Reds and should rediscover that top form.

Head-to-head: Here we go again then with the Australian scrum. James Slipper is the next under the spotlight as he goes up against Martin Castrogiovanni. A strong effort here though and he could start to cement himself a starting spot going into a World Cup year.

Recent results:

2009: Australia won 34-12 in Melbourne
2009: Australia won 31-8 in Canberra
2008: Australia won 30-20 in Padova
2006: Australia won 25-18 in Rome
2005: Australia won 69-21 in Melbourne

1996: Australia won 40-18 in Padova
1994: Australia won 20-7 in Melbourne
1994: Australia won 23-20 in Brisbane

Prediction: I'm afraid Italy will be struggling for answers. Australia by 25!

Wales will look to end a five-match losing run by beating their 2007 World Cup conquerors Fiji at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on Friday.

The pain of World Cup elimination will be all the motivation required by Wales when the two countries meet for the first time since their pool clash in Nantes three years ago, where Fiji won a nine-try epic in arguably the 2007 tournament's best game.

That 38-34 win for the South Sea Islanders was enough to dump Wales out of the tournament, leading to the sacking of Gareth Jenkins and the appointment of current incumbent Warren Gatland as the national coach. The defeat saw Wales sink to their lowest ever position in the world rankings - tenth - following a decline that began with five successive defeats between November 2006 and March 2007.

But having resurrected Welsh fortunes, Gatland last week suffered his fifth loss in a row (29-25 to South Africa), and is desperate not to suffer the same fate as his predecessor against opponents he will face at next year's World Cup.

And with the shadow of facing New Zealand looming on the horizon next week, victory is non-negotiable.

While there can be no doubt that Wales have progressed under the New Zealander, Gatland cannot afford to show mercy against the Fijians in the grip of the country's worst run of results for more than three years. And while Fiji have never beaten Wales on their home turf, there's no doubt the visitors will be out to take advantage of Wales' poor run.

Coming off a loss of their own against France, the Fijians will be stronger than they were last week because they will have had an extra week together. The poor weather conditions played a part for Fiji but the 34-12 scoreline flattered France.

Though light rain is expected on Friday, Fiji will once again look to do what they do best and run Wales off their feet. Wales were sucked into playing Fiji's renowned running game in 2007 - and they finished second. While the Welsh are not immune to throwing the ball around themselves, the key to victory will be a power-packed performance from their forwards.

"You can't win international rugby games without a good balance," said Ryan Jones, who regains the Wales captaincy from a rested Matthew Rees,

"Our set-piece has been good this autumn, and the breakdown is getting better.

"We don't want to get involved in playing 15-a-side sevens.

"We don't want to go out and try to beat Fiji at their own game, we want to go out and play the way we've developed and try to impose ourselves on the game for 80 minutes."

Six of the Wales players involved that day at Stade de la Beaujoire - James Hook, Tom Shanklin, Stephen Jones, Mike Phillips and Ian Gough - are in this week's matchday 22. However, Wales are minus a handful of injured players for Friday, including Shane Williams, Gethin Jenkins, Andy Powell and Sam Warburton.

But the Fiji Test provides an opportunity for Gatland to assess players like Williams' replacement Aled Brew and fly-half Dan Biggar, while raw talent - Tonga-born Toby Faletau - is on the bench. Dragons back-row forward Faletau turned 20 last Friday, and he is rated among the Magners League's most destructive ball-carriers.

Ones to watch:

For Wales: We've already mentioned the likes of Brew, Biggar and Faletau, but a player itching to prove his worth will be recalled Ospreys hooker Huw Bennett who wins his 37th cap this weekend. Amazingly, the in-form Bennett has only started one game in the past three months and will be determined to show what he can do after playing second fiddle to Matthew Rees for much of his Test career.

For Fiji: Out goes winger Napolioni Nalaga and in comes Michael Tagicakibau - the Saracens flyer that's made a pretty big name for himself on the Aviva Premiership circuit over the last two seasons. Nalaga was our one to watch last week against France, but his costly error against Les Bleus seems to have cost him a place in the side. Tagicakibau, who stands at 1.94m and weighs 94kg, now gets a golden opportunity to weave his magic out wide for his country.

Head to head: Against the likes of Fiji, it has to be in the backs hasn't it? Whilst Wales' back-line should be wary of a side that specialises in the unexpected, Fiji will also need to be on their toes. The likes of Josh Matavesi, Tagicakibau and Vereniki Goneva shouldn't expect a dangerous counter-attacking back three of Lee Byrne, George North and Aled Brew to just ran the ball back to the safety of their forwards. At the same time, we all remember how a cavalier approach cost Wales last time out - but it was still highly entertaining to watch!

Previous results:
2007: Fiji won 38-34 in Nantes (RWC)
2005: Wales won 11-10 in Cardiff
2002: Wales won 58-14 in Cardiff
1995: Wales won 19-15 in Cardiff
1994: Wales won 23-8 in Suva
1986: Wales won 22-15 in Suva
1985: Wales won 40-3 in Cardiff

Prediction: Although Fiji will possibly offer Wales the best chance to return to winning ways, the Welsh will know better than anyone to take anything for granted against the Pacific Islanders. Still, at home, history is with the hosts and should bounce back from last week's heartbreak. Wales to win by twelve points.

Replacements: 16 Lloyd Burns, 17 Dan Way, 18 Hugh Gustafson, 19 Luke Charteris, 20 Hugo Ellis, 21 Rhodri Gomer Davies, 22 James Leadbeater, 23 Matthew Jones.

Clint Newland will make his Leinster debut against Dragons in the Magners League at the Royal Dublin Society on Friday.

The New Zealand Maori prop will line up in a front row which includes Heinke van der Merwe and club Player of the Month Richardt Strauss.

In all there are four Ireland internationals in the pack including Leo Cullen who leads the side.

Isaac Boss partners Shaun Berne at half-back, with Eoin O'Malley continuing his centre partnership with Fergus McFadden.

Isa Nacewa is named in the back three alongside Shane Horgan and David Kearney. Ed O'Donoghue takes his place amongst the replacements after missing the last five games through injury.

Meanwhile, Dragons captain Tom Willis returns to lead Paul Turner's side as they travel to Dublin.

Several changes have been made to the side which suffered defeat at Saints in the LV= Cup last week, with a number of regulars returning.

Will Harries has been released from the Welsh national squad for the fixture and takes his place on the wing, with Tom Cheeseman moving to centre, where he partners the returning Ashley Smith. Pat Leach continues at full-back, a position covered earlier this season by Harries.

Jason Tovey and Wayne Evans also return to the starting line-up as James Leadbeater and Matthew Jones drop to the bench. Adam Hughes and Phil Price have both recovered from injuries and will also start at the RDS.

Nigel Hall packs down alongside Price and Willis in the front-row, whilst Adam Jones is retained at blindside. Gavin Thomas returns and Lewis Evans completes the back row, starting at number eight. Scott Morgan and Robert Sidoli make up the second-row, with Luke Charteris on the bench.

The Men of Gwent's last trip to Dublin ended in a hard fought 23-14 defeat, but the Dragons went on to beat the Irish province with a bonus point at Rodney Parade later in the season, running in four tries to win 30-14.

In their last home match, Leinster overcame Edinburgh by a single point, winning 19-18, and with the Dragons having beaten champions the Ospreys away in their previous Magners League game, the Men of Gwent can travel to Ireland with some confidence.

Form: The last six meetings between the two teams have all been won by the home side on the day. Dragons have lost all seven previous games they have played on Leinster soil. Leinster have won their last five games in all competitions since their 24-32 reversal at Edinburgh on 24 September. The Leinstermen won their only previous encounter with a Welsh side this season: 34-23 over Cardiff Blues at the RDS in round two of the Magners League. Dragons have won their last two games in the Magners League since their 13-20 defeat at Treviso on 1 October. They have not won three successive Magners League games since season 2004/05.

Gavin Duffy will win his 100th cap for Connacht this Friday when the Irish province face the Ospreys in Galway.

Head Coach Eric Elwood has handed Dermot Murphy a start at hooker alongside Brett Wilkinson and Jamie Hagan while Michael Swift and Bernie Upton renew their partnership at lock. Further back and there is an experienced trio comprising of Michael McCarthy, Johnny O'Connor and John Muldoon at numbers six, seven and eight.

Miah Nikora, Eoin Griffin and Troy Nathan are all given starts against the Welsh region after impressing during last week's victory over Samoa.

Meanwhile, Ospreys Head Coach Sean Holley revealed that he has been encouraged by the performances of his region's youth over recent weeks.

"I think the last two weeks have been really positive, culminating in the performance against Leicester," he said.

"We know we've got some raw talent coming through in the region, although we don't often get the chance to look at them together, which is something that the LV= Cup has afforded us the opportunity to do.

"We were very close to getting a positive outcome in Newcastle, but there were signs there that we had real potential as a team. The performance significantly improved the following weekend and the boys really expressed themselves against Leicester. It was a good stage for them in front of an excellent crowd, and it kicks us on into this week and the Magners League now with us still missing so many players."

His side will be captained by Jerry Collins, who runs from number eight on Friday alongside Marty Holah and Justin Tipuric. Elsewhere and Sonny Parker and Ashley Beck are at centre outside half-backs Rhys Webb and Matthew Morgan.

"A lot of the faces and combinations we saw last weekend will front up again in Connacht," backed Holley.

"We're excited about going there with this group of players. In recent seasons we've played them with near enough a full strength squad and we've had to really work hard to get a positive result, so it will be a really good test of where these players are right now.

"It's a tough game and another learning curve for a lot of these players. It won't be easy, but we're looking forward to it."

Form: Connacht have won just one of their last seven encounters with Ospreys: 24-20 at the Sportsground on 9 May 2008. Ospreys have lost back-to-back games in the Magners League but have not lost three in a row in the competition since season 2007/08. Ospreys have won just one away game so far this season: 21-18 at Scarlets on 2 October. Connacht have not won in the Magners League since 17 September when they visited Glasgow, however they have lost just once at the Sportsground in all competitions this season: 6-18 to Leinster in the Magners League on 23 October.

Northampton travel to Edgeley Park on Friday to play an in-form Sale outfit on the back of an unbeaten start to their LV= Cup defence.

Director of Rugby Jim Mallinder says that his Saints players are looking forward to returning to Aviva Premiership Rugby this weekend.

And as his team looks to continue the form that has taken them to the top end of the Aviva Premiership Rugby table, Mallinder believes that the Anglo-Welsh competition has put the squad in good spirits ahead of the next few games.

"The LV= Cup is a good competition for us," Mallinder said.

"It gives the coaches an opportunity to try some new things and allows players time to show what they can do in the first team.

"We had two positive results against Saracens and the Dragons, and now we're looking to take that momentum back into Aviva Premiership Rugby.

"Edgeley Park is a tough place to play and Sale have been going well this season, especially at home. The Sharks have showed how much strength in depth they've got by putting together some good wins in all competitions recently and Mike Brewer has them playing an effective style of rugby.

"However we've been playing well recently too, and I have confidence that the team we've selected can go to Stockport and get a positive result."In team news, Jamie Elliott makes his Aviva Premiership debut on the wing and Greig Tonks returns at full-back, while Roger Wilson and Bruce Reihana have recovered from their respective leg and finger injuries to take their places on the replacements bench.

Form: Sale Sharks' only defeat in their last six matches in all competitions was 26-39 at London Irish in the Aviva Premiership on October 31. The Sharks have won four of their last five games at Edgeley Park. Northampton Saints' only loss in any competition this season was 17-24 at Saracens in Round Four of the Aviva Premiership. Sale have beaten Northampton just once in their last six encounters in all competitions: 24-18 at Edgeley Park in the Premiership on 25 April 2009.

Match Preview :

A fortnight after Quins' LV= Cup win over the Tigers, the London side are back at Welford Road and hoping for similar fortunes in the Premiership.

Nick Evans returns in place of Rory Clegg, and restores his 9-10 partnership with Karl Dickson. Jordan Turner-Hall and Ollie Smith are at centre.

Tom Williams and George Lowe on the wings. Mike Brown, after missing out on the Newcastle game, is back at full-back.

Ceri Jones, Joe Gray and James Johnston make up the front-row and Tomas Vallejos and George Robson combine once more in the second-row.

Captain Chris Robshaw, Will Skinner and Tom Guest make up a strong back-row. Gonzalo Camacho remains with Argentina.

Meanwhile, lock Geoff Parling is included in Leicester's matchday 22 for the first time this season.

Parling ended last season with a Premiership winner's medal in his first term with the club, but he suffered a neck injury on tour with England in June. He is named among the Tigers' replacements.

Geordan Murphy, Anthony Allen and George Chuter have returned from international training this week to take a place in the starting line-up and Manu Tuilagi makes his first start in the Aviva Premiership, taking the place of brother Alesana, who is away with Samoa.

Props Fraser Balmain and Ryan Bower are among the replacements after playing in the LV=Cup match against the Ospreys last Friday, but England international centre Dan Hipkiss is ruled out with a hamstring injury.

Form: Harlequins have already won at Welford Road this season with a 34-25 scoreline there in the Anglo-Welsh Cup two weeks ago, but the Londoners have never won at the venue in the Premiership. Leicester Tigers have lost their last four games in all competitions - their worst run since 2003/04, but in the Premiership have lost just one of their last 25 home games. Harlequins' only loss in their last five was 26-33 at Gloucester in Aviva Premiership Rugby on 23 October. Quins have not won away from home in the Premiership since a trip to Leeds on 4 December 2009.
