Dwayne Peel returns from injury as Sale Sharks give debuts to Rhys Crane and Asaeli Boko in Friday's LV= Cup game against London Irish.
Crane has recently turned in some impressive performances for Sale Jets. The former Bath man has taken the eye with his pace on either wing, scoring the Jets' first try against Newcastle last Monday after a 25-metre burst.
Fijian international Boko was the side's other try-scorer, capping a cameo performance where his pace and high-tempo passing made an immediate impact.
Young players Fergus Mulchrone and Rob Miller are also rewarded for their good form. Sharks' improved second half performance against the same opponents last Sunday coincided with Miller's introduction.
On the bench tomorrow are Welshman Ben Roberts and two local lads, Daniel Hall from Preston and former Wigan Warriors starlet Iain Thornley. All three have yet to make their first team debuts.
"Boko really excites me, with the pace he puts on the ball. Some of these younger guys have taken the opportunity to impress with the Jets. The LV= Cup will be significantly harder than what they've encountered in the 'A' League: let's see if they can take the next step up," said coach Mike Brewer.
"We want to go as far as we can in this competition. We're aiming to be more consistent in the way we're playing and how we're performing. Friday will be a chance to turn the result around after Sunday."
Meanwhile, rising stars Marcus Watson, Marland Yarde and Guy Armitage make their starting debuts as the Exiles first team make the trip north.
Elvis Seveali'i captains the squad which also includes talented young Exiles Matt Garvey, Jonathan Joseph, Kieran Low and Sam Edgerley. Summer signing Darren Allinson makes his first competitive start for the club as scrum-half.
"We're looking forward to getting into the LV= Cup. As a squad we're right where we want to be competitively not least down to some outstanding performances from our young players," said London Irish Head Coach, Toby Booth.
"Moving into this tournament gives us the chance to bring fresh legs to the game and showcase the depth of talent we have."
